15-09-2006 VC ShutDown 1.00 program ----------------------------------------- 1 - Installation 2 - Upgrade 3 - Uninstall 4 - What the Program Does 5 - What’s New on this version? 6 - Wish List 7 - Support and Contact 1 - Installation ================= a) Unzip the zipped file into a temporary directory and run VCShutdownSetup.exe to begin the installation. b) The program can be installed anywhere including network and removable drives. Note: you might need to update your current operating system during the installation. Allow it to be updated and then restart your computer. c) Upgrade from previous version. Please read 2 - Upgrade 2 - Upgrade =========== a) The package installation is exactly the same one for first time installation and upgrade. b) VC ShutDown program Problem during install: While installing VC ShutDown, the setup may say that the VCShutdown.exe file is in use. To solve the problem, get out of the setup - restart the computer and run the setup again. c) Install the upgrade in the EXACTLY same place you have your current VC ShutDown program. The upgrade module will detect your old version and all you have to do is follow the instructions. 3 - Uninstall ============= a) If you would like to remove the VC ShutDown program from your computer, simply make use of the standard Windows Add/Remove as follows: Click on your START button. Select SETTINGS. Select CONTROL PANEL. Choose ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS and select VC ShutDown. Then click on the ADD/REMOVE or CHANGE/REMOVE button. b) Or you click the uninstall shortcut next to the VC ShutDown shortcut. 4 - What can VC ShutDown do? ============================ *Shuts Down your computer with pre-set Date and Time. *The pre-set Date and Time can be done manually or by schedule. *The schedule sets the day of the Week and will be repeated on every Week Day. *Some times Windows refuses to Shutdown or Restart. VC ShutDown gives you a solution, Click File/ShutDown Now! Your System will Shutdown. *What is the utility of VC ShutDown? Can be many, but the main function is to shutdown the machine at a pre-set Day and Time to force the modem to be disconnected. *Why I made VC ShutDown program? In South Africa the price of phone calls between H19:00 and H07:00 are half price and I didn’t want to be awake until late to download my files. To not pass H07:00, I select all the files I need and set VC ShutDown to H07:00 and I will go to bed sleeping like a baby, knowing I will not pay the high phone rates after H07:00. *VC ShutDown can be set to shutdown days ahead via Schedule or manually. This is very useful because in South Africa we also have phone calls at half price from Friday H19:00 until Monday H07:00. *The start date and time is when you start the program and click the Start button to initiate the countdown. *VC ShutDown can be used for many other purposes but if you have a similar problem in your Country, then your problem is solved. *By using Step-By-Step you will get help by example. *VC ShutDown offers Tool Tips on all buttons and boxes for instant help on the spot. *VC ShutDown can be resized and positioned anywhere and the program will remember the last size and position automatically. *There are more self-explanatory features in the program, that are not listed here. *VC ShutDown will run on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. *Please make sure you have the latest updates for the Operating System and Internet Explorer. 5 - What’s New on this version? =============================== This is the first public release 6 - Wish List ============= Anything that you would like to see in the VC ShutDown program will be kept on a list and I will work through it in a particular order.
